Al-Rayyan “Local Community&Hiking Experience“
Hikers & nature lovers would admire a special day to blend in with the local community & farmers , learn traditional cuisine recipes, cook their own meals, and hike within the Jordanian wilderness, the day begins by heading to Wadi[ valley] Al Rayyan area known for a 4,500 years old olive oil factory ,small introduction of the area and its valuable projects, then preparing breakfast and placing local Taboon bread on the oven to eat with traditional morning dishes. After that, a tour inside the host family’s farm another introduction about their produce and how they inspire sustainable solutions to the most stressing social, economic and environmental challenges. then they move on to begin preparing lunch, which is the well-known popular dish in the areas of Houran, Al-Makmoura. After placing it in the Taboon oven, visitors set out to start their hike (the distance is approximately 3 km) in Wadi Al-Rayyan, arriving at a spring of fresh and cold water. They take rest and some time to admire nature , silence and serenity , and then they continue their tour in the surrounding areas they can even participate in collecting fruits or olives depending on the season, when they return to the host family their Makmoura is ready to be served , the preparation of Kunafa [a local dessert] is not that hard but requires paying attention to little details especially when made on firewood, of which after can be enjoyed with a cup of black tea with Mint or aromatic locally planted Sage.
